Door to Door Solicitation under false pretense

Yesterday a very polite elderly man knocked on my door and indicated he wanted me to inform me as a courtesy he would be walking on property in the back to inspect the "Spectrum" cable lines. I indicated ok, then he asked me if I used Xfinity, since they are very expensive, and he also used them. I did not want to answer any more questions, and he kept talking about how he could save me money on a government program and wanted additional information. I told him I was not interested and to leave...I finally had to close the door on him.

If he was truly with Spectrum, I do not apricate high pressure sales tactics, and under false pretense...he never did go in the back and inspect "the underground Spectrum Cable lines"

Hmmmm, how do you inspect underground cable? Did he have a big S on his chest?

Did you ask to see any proper ID ?

I would call Spectrum to see if he was legit. I have seen some survey companies doing work around my Village to map out burying lines.

There is a government savings plan that if you're under a certain income you can get Xfinity internet for free.

I only answer through ring doorbell. It records them and audio that you can give to police for investigation

They are legit with business cards, logo shirts, and signs on their vehicles and are actually offering some pretty good deals with guaranteed rates and no contract. They are also working to upgrade their equipment so you will see them at the boxes over the next several weeks. No mis-representation, their visits are two-fold. I listened to the entire offer and chose to stick with Xfinity as I like their customer service and never had a problem with them over the last 2 years.

He was in our neighborhood also. Tried selling us on Spectrum also. Said to wife he was Bs us, never seen anyone working on the system’s.

A Spectrum gentleman interrupted me while I was weeding the other day (which could be another entire thread ... so many weeds, little bitty ones ... every day ... but I digress). He was at the box which is on our property and tried to give me his spiel. I said I wasn't interested (did I mention the weeds?), but he kept going and said "I am required to inform you" explaining some changes that meant savings, regardless of the carrier we use. Interesting that this is legit. Thanks for the thread.

Do people ever learn?

Use GROUND CLEAR with the spray wond. Kills everything so be careful.

I had a gentleman on my block in Fenney from Spectrum. He rang my bell and immediately presented his ID and the car/van he was driving also said Spectrum. No hard sell, he offered me a signup deal and when I said no he thanked me and left.

Seems unnecessary since I get a mail offer twice a week

I thought Florida was a 2 party state, meaning both parties have to know they’re recording audio, or is that only for the phone?
I’ve seen people actually go to jail for not telling the other party they were recording.
