Our postal station worker typically has a bin for the overflow, and leaves a stick in the box that indicates I need to go to the door to get the contents.

You can put a hold on your mail and pick it up at the post office, same as you can wherever you came from before moving to The Villages.

Or see if a trusted friend could collect it for you. Big advantage is if you are expecting something important, they might help with that.

Do you have a home watch service? Ours takes our golf cart for a little exercise (charges the battery) to the postal station once a week.
