Getting rid of DVDs?
Is anybody getting rid of DVDs?
We're going on a multiday bike ride across Iowa with a few enthusiasts. Internet will be unreliable. We're hoping that someone has a dozen DVDs that they would be willing to donate. We've checked some second hand stores. Apparently, they are not worth selling. There is a small group of us setting up a free library of sorts for this event for our immediate group. |
The Sumter County library on Powell Road and on Belvedere Road sells DVDs for 1 or 2 dollars each. They usually have a lot of them. You can also check them out from the library for free. You can also download movies and videos to a tablet before you go.

You can buy DVDs at Walmart.
I agree about downloading to a tablet or laptop. I always keep a couple of "e-books" and at least one movie on my tablet, and a couple in a flash drive, in case the power goes out and I get bored. |

Downloads can not be placed in a physical location to be shared. |

You /can/ download to a USB but it's a really bad idea, it'll run way too slowly on whatever device you plug it into to play back. |

Try Habitat for Humanity Restore, In the past I've got some there "On Sale" to 10 cents each.

Loading up a tablet with movies really is the way to go.
If you have a newer DVD / Blu-ray player with a USB port on it then you can load up movies on a flash drive or external hard drive and play them from there. Your TV may have a USB port that can be used the same way. |
I just sold over 400 disks to a guy at Marion Markets. He's selling them for $1ea. Main hallway, all the way to the back....

I have a bunch of screener DVD’s from the last couple of years. They have watermarks occasionally. “Property of ( studio name)” around 40 of them

Depending on how long your trip is, why not just check out the DVDs at the library?

You can also borrow DVDs in the library for free for 10 days with two renewal periods, as long as someone else has not reserved the DVD. |
Walmart has big bin for under $5 and people sell on Nextdoor. I download movies and tv shows to my iPad from Amazon prime. Works fine

Hmm, sounds like RAGBRAI. Good luck and have fun! 😁
