White Storage Cabinets for the Garage
 

Can anyone recommend a white storage cabinet for the garage approx 42" wide and72" high, with 4-5 shelvesto to store pots and baking pans, etc. I planned to buy one at Lowes but all of the on-line reviews were pretty negative. I seem to recall that Abshier when they were on 466 had white storage cabinets for a laundry room. We'd appreciate any recommendations, if anyone has any. Thanks.

I have 4 of those cabinets from Lowes & Home Depot. They work fine for me, I ever added shelves on the wardrobe side.

The "big box stores" storage cabinets vary in quality. I chose the least expensive white cabinets in Lowes years ago. Installed in garage and laundry room and am perfectly satisfied with them. They are not top on the line but serve the intended purpose.

Thank you both for your comments. I stopped at Abshier in LSL earlier today. They have a very nice set of garage cabinets, including slatwall panel and counter top for $1K installed. It's more cabinet than we need or have room for, so I'm rethinking that 48" Versa cabinet from Lowes. Worst case, I can reinforce the cabinet back and sides with L-brackets, and add additional shelves as needed.

George - For what you're wanting to put in the cabinets, I'd think you'll be fine with the ones from Lowe's......if they have the look you want.

To add to what the article said about mounting wall cabinets, some people will level and screw a small board (1"x2", for example) to the wall at the bottom of where the cabinets will mount. Lift the cabinet and set the bottom back board of the cabinet on it. Thus it becomes a place to rest the bottom of the cabinet while you start screwing the top and bottom of the cabinet in place. Afterwards, remove the screws holding the 1x2 in place, spackle a couple of small holes, dab some touch-up paint on them.....and you're done.

We're looking for a free-standing cabinet, although I may achor it to the wall so it doesn't tip over. Since it weights over 200 lbs I'm planning to wait for my sons visit next week. It'll give them something to do and thankfully they don't find assembing a cabinet work--as I do.
