Movie theater advice

Can anyone advise if going to see a movie, Is Old Mill Playhouse a good theater or should I go to Lake Square Mall? Last time I was at that mall was over 30 years ago. When it was a real mall.

I like the recliner seats in the mall theater, and you can reserve your seat. I haven't been to Old Mill Playhouse since they added the restaurant and nightclub. And I never felt the soundproofing was that good. I could hear noise from the adjacent films. Now that the Villages is down to one theater, does that theater tend to be busy?

Best Theater is Epic in Ocala, can have a nice lunch and shop

Depends what you are looking for... If you are looking for state of the art and recliners you will need to go to Leesburg or Ocala. If you want an inexpensive theatre trip, go to the Old Mill. Tickets are cheap and so are the concessions. The other places will cost you 12-15 a seat plus about $20 for a large popcorn and 2 drinks...

The sound is improved at the Old Mill Playhouse and they have $6 Mondays (all seats except 3D) and date night. Date nights are Friday and Saturday seats all seats after 6 PM are $6. Again 3D are more expensive.

Popcorn and soda are a little pricey but kind of the norm for the industry.

Saw Mission Impossible at Old Mill and experience was fine. Popcorn with loads of salt and butter flavoring is not something we are interested in so price does not matter.

They used to ask if you wanted butter but have not had popcorn for a while at the Old Mill Playhouse. And do not recall that they are heavy on the salt, either.

Various Villagers are on strict diets.

Without butter and salt popcorn has no taste. Unfortunately they will put both on with a very heavy hand.

Than if you get salty popcorn need a drink, with a drink will need to visit rest room. Better off without.

Epic XL theaters in Ocala......reclining seats and super sized screen (not imax).

Technically the Old Mill Playhouse is fine. Comfortable seats, reasonably priced concessions, good sound, etc. But getting in and out is an interesting experience; walking next to the stage (uncomfortable when there is a program going on), then having to wait in line for when your particular theater becomes available. We saw Sound Of Freedom there a couple of weeks back; there were four lines and one VERY impatient person shepherding all four. It was basically take your pick. Plus, to get concessions you have to walk in front of the lines to get your stuff, then back in line. Lucky my wife held our spots in line while I got popcorn and soft drinks.

Can't people survive for a couple of hours without food?
All that slurping and munching.
Drowns out the sound sometimes, and the smell. Yuk! barf

The “kids” are interested in making more billions and my guess the TV theaters were decent marketing tools back in the ol’ days but not so much anymore. The theaters or Katie Belle’s likely never made any money but were conveniently located for the residents. Newbees would rather watch the movies on their 80” television set, ride a bike or go for a walk. Sex on the square is out of style too. You can get out of the bubble and go to Ocala or Leesburg for movies. One has to wonder what changes artificial intelligence will bring!

We like the AMC theater in Leesburg. Download their app for rewards and specials. In addition to the nice leather recliners, you can reserve your seats before you go.

Make sure you have comfortable seats if you are planning to see Oppenheimer. The run time is 3 hours.

I think "yuk" depends on the person. Personally I do like home popped corn the old way, but not the type sold in theaters. If not crowded, I'd just move away from someone who was actually slurping loudly instead of sipping quietly through a straw, but that's just me not wanting an "incident" in a theater (like so many cell phone escalations !) As to if people can't go a couple hours without food, probably can for sure, but I think it might me like a fair or carnival, many people find it part of the experience, just "fun", not because they can't go a couple hours without food. Like a ball game, just kind of part of the experience rather hungry or not...LOL ! BTW, saw Sound of Freedom while at the beach over the 4th. Maybe I'm just "dense", but I can't understand at all how this film got to be so controversial ??? Can anyone, of any political leaning, or any religion, or ANYTHING actually be opposed to the trafficking of children ? Amazing !
