Barbie (2023).

Barbie - Rotten Tomatoes

Is this worth seeing? Funny? Edgy?

I did enjoy La La Land. La La Land - Rotten Tomatoes

I just may wait until it comes out on Digital unless it has some really good special effects.

Saw coming attractions yesterday think I would rather spend time here than watch it.

May go to Oppenheimer though but not for a few weeks. We went to three movies this week. I had visiting relative(s).

Does anyone know why there isn't a pregnant Barbie?

Well technically she’s 19 and she’s definitely not married so I’m guessing that’s why?

I had planned on waiting until it came to streaming but with all the hype I think I’ll go see it next week.

I wonder how Barbie will do here in the Villages?

Good question. This movie skews female. I’d say lots will go see out of curiosity. Barbie has been around for so long and there’s never been a movie. Lots of age groups know Barbie.

Not sure. Something about the bubble gum pink around Barbie, the color prisons use for aggressive inmates - or is that fuchsia pink? Also those stilettos etc - it is such a poor image to hand to our children.

With a wardrobe now spanning 64 years worth of fashion, she’s had her pick of footwear, but Barbie has been closely associated with the stiletto mule — also called the stiletto slide or sandal — since her inception.

The movie actually makes fun of that. In Barbie world, her feet are permanently in tip-toes, like actual Barbie, but she goes to the real world and she can’t walk, she literally falls down and her feet become normal and flat. This is all in the trailer so I’m not giving away anything. I haven’t seen it yet. Also, it’s rated PG 13. it’s not for kids.

I do enjoy Margot Robbie in almost anything.

That "image" has been around since 1959. Barbie is as much a part of Americana as Star Trek, Mickey Mouse or the Super Bowl.
