Very patient left handed golfer needed

I am moving into The Villages in October and am very new to golf. I have taken intro to golf twice - the instructor the first time politely suggested that I repeat the class because, shall I say, I am a slow learner. I really want to learn and went out and bought clubs. I am looking for a very patient left handed golfer to take me out golfing and help me learn enough so I am not embarrassed or ejected from golf courses when I try to play. My wife has also suggested that I should get some recommendations on where to practice in relative seclusion so I will not draw the ire of other golfers when it takes me 10 strokes on a par three hole.

You will learn a lot faster on a driving range. There is one at Sarasota on Moyer Loop near Morse Blvd.

I don't think you need a left handed golfer to help you. Most left handed people play golf right handed.

Just book some lessons with a decent Pro. before going out on golf course.
Lefty or righty makes no difference.
Basics are the same.
Lefties just look weird, that's all! :icon_wink:

Remember max strokes is 2x par, so a par 3 would max out at 6 - you should pickup and not hold up players behind you.

This.

It's important to start with the right mechanics.

A pro who uses video to coach will accelerate the learning process.

There are many people like you who move to The Villages and want to take up the game of golf. My suggestion is to watch countless videos on Youtube instead of paying for lessons which are costly. Then take what you have learned to the driving range.
When you decide to golf on the short courses go in the evening when very little play is going on.

Please see PM sent to you by this highly experienced, patient, leftie Villages golfer who would be glad to show you the ropes.

Listen to your instructor and you should not need lessons from a left hander. I am right handed and learned more from a left handed pro.

Also suggest picking your ball up and take no more than 5-6 strokes a hole so that other players do not get upset.

I am a lefty and golf righty.

Get a few lessons and go out on exec course later in day.

I am the same. Most lefties play golf right handed. It was interesting that, when Brian Harman who plays left handed, won a tournament recently, he threw his ball to the crowd with his right hand. Most lefties throw with their left hand.

Wonder why so many of us bat righty?

Left or right, basics are still the same. Practice on the pitch and put courses.
