How to help Maui fire victims from afar: Organizations and efforts underway - ABC7 San Francisco
Have yet to visit Hawaii even though my Dad was offered jobs in Reno, NV; Honolulu, Hawaii; or Fresno, CA back in the late 1960s after when his company promoted him. But he did handle various fires in Western States as well as hurricanes like Iniki. He did not care to live for a long time again in Hawaii as he had been stationed as a Wolfhound at Schofield Barracks - Wikipedia as a M.A.S.H. medic. 27th Infantry Regiment (United States) - Wikipedia I know a number of Villagers who have vacationed often on one or more of the islands of Hawaii as well as some who lived there. |

We know the are affected very well, it is truly heartbreaking. One have someone we consider a good friend that owned a shop on Front Street selling Ukulele's and it is all gone. It was one of the wooden structures. The Pioneer Inn where Mark Twain reported stayed while in Lahaina is gone and sadly the 180+ year old Banyon Tree was scorched, can only hope it can recover. One tree the size of city block..... Prayers go out to them...

It looks like this was a tragedy waiting to happen. Lots of warning bells in government documents and the like were mentioned in some recent news reports. Fire storms and hurricanes should be anticipated in places like Maui.
