Dogs in Publix in Florida

Good link. Congratulations to Publix. Publix just issued a reminder about dogs in the grocery store. What to know about rules

Because two active threads about animals in grocery stores weren't enough?

Can't wait to see if this will be posted in Publix Colony. See dogs all the time in there. One "darling pooch" defecated in the dairy isle. Another peed by the meat case. Owner walked away pulling on the dog each time. I have also seen owners touching their dogs for whatever reason and then feel the fruit and tomatoes.

To quote Judge Judy--"You can't fix stupid" (or inconsiderate, or selfish, or entitled, or.....)

It has been posted, and the manager told me that they will enforce it.

People just trying to effect change?

I'm a doubting Thomas. We shall see.

Wonder if Publix reps have been reading Talk of the Villages forum. Kudos to Pulix for taking this action. Now let's see if they will enforce this rule.

EDIT: Glad to hear our local Publix will enforce the rule.

I have 2 labs and I totally support this. Props to Publix! Long overdue. Hope this starts a trend and other businesses follow, including restaurants.

I think we have beaten the dog to death on this already.

Nope, not as long as people bring no service dogs to places where there is food.

From the link:

“ADA Law for Service Animals Training Video, a Facebook group, also applauded the signs, but added a suggestion.

“Thank you Publix, Florida, it’s a slow step in the right direction but unless you enforce this, the sign is just a sign.”

The proof will be in the pudding, as they say. My thought is that it will be enforced if someone complains but that most of the time the manager and/or other store personnel will be conveniently looking the other way.

I'm just amazed that this isn't enforced by the Florida State Sanitation Dept.
working with retailers who are selling/buying/or serving food on any level.

not to be starting up trouble, but what if you saw one in a stroller, would it make a difference?
