"Rich Men North of Richmond". In 1 week Oliver Anthony becomes famous. Then he turns down 8 million for his song.

Free concert this past weekend. Seems like a nice guy. Signed autographs for ALL.

Probably because it is his creation and people are using it for their own ends. I do not want to get political here. The songwriter sounds rather angry about the whole thing though. He probably feels used.

"People deal with depression and anxiety and misery and hopelessness no matter where they are at," Anthony told Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins.

"They don't have to be blue-collar Americans. I mean I've gotten messages from people in countries that I don't know how to pronounce. This is something that has touched people globally and there's a reason for that," he said.

His song resonates with many struggling hard working people worldwide.

You don't want to get political, yet there you are.

This song is aimed at all leaders and the working people around the world. So many can relate to this song.

Seems very fitting for some of the working people I have met here around the Villages from Wildwood, Tavares, Leesburg, Ocala, Newberry, etc.

There are 8 singles of his on Apple Music obviously I listen to the words in ALL music. Just don’t care for that style of music only an opinion. Many artists before him carried the same or similar message I prefer the style of Leonard Cohen.

And enjoy a lot of country-western music not this hit song though. Not impressed at all with music, words, etc.

Seems like it is written for people who live in the country and who often have a very hard time making ends meet because of the greed of their employers. Think the city has RAP music and other related genres.

How can it be compared to rap which is laced with obscenity, hate and violence?
