Gift ideas for new grandparents
 

Some friends are soon to be grandparents for the 1st time. I'd like to buy them a gift. What's the coolest ... most useful ... best thing you bought or received when you became a grandparent?

Other than the precious bundle…nothing. By a certain age, one has more than enough of picture frames and trinkets.

What would be most giving is a gift certificate to a restaurant so the new grands can send up to new overwhelmed parents.

My DIL got me a book to fill out about my family history and my sons childhood. I will give it to my granddaughter at some point.

Helping them to start a college fund could be a great thing to do.

When our grandkids were born we did that for each of them with the goal being they get thru their education with money in the bank and no debt.

If you do not live close by, a simple video system so that the grandkids will be able to see and talk to you might be nice.

Their family/kids may already be planning it, but ours gave us an E-picture frame - Skylight brand. There are various makes and models but it allows the kids to upload/email photos to a dedicated email address that pop up on the frame. We have ours going every day and it just scrolls through. We love to glance over and see photos of our Grands. Our kids are pretty dedicated about sharing new photos regularly.
