Electric Recliner Repair

Seeking recommendations for Flexsteel electric recliner repair. It’s the mechanism that needs repair - stuck in open position, power is on, no switches are working. Thank you.

I have a Flexsteel electric recliner. When I bought it, it came with a lifetime warranty on the mechanism. You may want to check with Babettes about that. If it is not covered under warranty, they have an employee who knows everything about recliners and can fix it for a reasonable fee, if he still works there.

OP, switches are typically available on the internet and these usually just plug in, and as noted above you can contact wherever you bought the recliner to see if they have any in stock. I had to replace ours, about $40. I can install the switch if you get one.
I have recently repaired 3 electric recliners, so if you cannot find a replacement switch, I can take a look and see if I can figure out what is wrong, and at least hopefully get your recliner to the upright position.
Send a private message to discuss over the phone if interested.

Thank you for the info. The chair is only 3 years old. It was included in our home purchase, so we have no receipts or purchase info. I will contact Babettes. That may be where the original purchase was made. Hopefully that employee is still available.

Thanks again!

Here is the Flexsteel website that states the lifetime warranty.

Just a moment...

I bought a recliner from Babettes and it had an intermittent problem that caused the mechanism to stop working. You might say freeze up. My experience was that the mechanisms are generally relatively reliable. A freezing mechanism most likely means an "actuator" is not functional and that may be that it is not receiving power due to a signal problem or a short. I would check the wiring closely to see if you can detect any potential damage, starting with the power cord and its interface with the actuators, especially the connections that could be damaged by an accidental pull of the cord.

Good Luck

Family Furniture in Leesburg has a Service Dept that just fixed my reclining sofa.

Is there an individual handyman/repairman who comes to your house to fix a recliner?

We had the same problem. I called the furniture company in addition to a few local places for repair but had no luck. I ended up removing the mechanism from the chair and finding one just like it from Amazon. Replaced it and the chair was good as new. I am not mechanical, so it was an easy fix. Just a few bolts and connecting wires. I’ll bet if you remove it and take a look, you can find something.

Depending on the nature of your problem with the recliner I can help. Yes I come to your house, send me a PM with any additional details and a way to call you to discuss a suitable time to visit.
