Barbie - Movie Inflation

I really have no interest in watching the movie, but the cost to own a digital copy is $31.99. Is anyone planning to buy this movie?

Wow shocked that they priced it so high

Question what does other movies cost to buy? Is $30 the going rate for a newly released movie?

tophcfa 09-05-2023 05:03 PM

Dam, if that’s what the movie costs I can only imagine what the Barbie and Ken dolls set costs that includes the beach cruiser car? I think I’ll pass and put the money in the greens fees jar!

If it does not sell you might see it one day at the dollar store

You can buy most new releases for $19.99 or sometimes it is $24.99, but more than that is unheard of.

That is quite expensive. They usually go around $25 on VuDu. I did order it but will see if I keep on in my Queue.

Some of these movies I like to watch very carefully. So I need to stop it a lot.

Very good idea. Love libraries and the Lake County Library system has a large number of DVDs and the like. Not sure about Blu-Rays.

Usually if a movie becomes available to buy digitally, it's already gone from the theatres. At that point, the price is set, and will go down over time.

I'm seeing on Billboard that Barbie is available for pre-order on Amazon for $29.99. Once it's gone from the theatres, the price will drop a bit - probably to $24.99. In a year or so it'll go down to $19.99. In five years it'll be $14.99 or even $9.99.

It's just the nature of premium blockbuster movies produced by major companies.

I will wait until it is a buck and than decide if I want to see it.

So odd to not want to see the movie but care what it costs.

I don't eat certain foods, and I can't say I care what the foods I don't eat cost. I'm not into sports cars, and I can't say I care what they cost. I'm not into....and so on

Read a book

I find this a funny topic. If the early eighties people were buying movies on VHS and prices for movies make today's prices pale in comparison. I could be wrong but one of my first tapes was The Producers and if I remember it was somewhere in the $70 range.

Go see it, outstanding comedy.
