Snowbirds Need to Decompress
 

Their back!!!!!! Snowbirds spending 3-6 months up north have to readjust to a faster pace of life up north. Once they come back they need to decompress to a slower pace of life here. This takes a little time, probably about 1 month. Its time to chill out snowbirds for your own safety, and ours.

While riding my bike today, my wife and I were passed by a speed racer going over the chitty chatty bridge. You know the bright colored dressed bikers who just want to go fast. He passed us, flew by whispering out of my way, and then about 2 miles down the path, we stopped to see him lying on the ground and being helped to his feet by the people whose car he ran into. 911 was called and there was a good dent in the backside of the car, hopefully he was okay.

While crossing the Lily bridge there was a biker in front of us crossing over the highway, a golf car crossed the solid line to pass all of us just before a corner. The biker shouted something and we proceeded on. Once into the Brownwood parking lot, the biker proceeded to chase the golf car down as he was going to the gas station. We did not stay for the conversation. But it wasn't going to be pleasant.

While resting at the Eisenhower Rec. Center, there was a women painting the door so the side door was being used. A woman came hurrying in carrying a bucket and a pilates ball and decided to hit the automatic door opener. The door opened and hit the painter in the head. And the women scurried into the side door.

All of this happened in one morning, and we figured out that the snowbirds had returned. Please be warned to watch out for the faster paced snowbirds. They need to decompress and adjust to the pace down here before more injuries occur. You have been warned, they may also need an attitude adjustment, please give them time to re-adjust.

Still 90+ degrees in Central Florida and one week after Labor Day. In S. Florida "snow bird" season starts Thanksgiving week end. Sounds more like someone in the sun too long would do. Snowbirds and tourists are why Florida does not have a state income tax.

Were they all wearing their "We're Snowbirds" signs?

Thank goodness no one does anything stupid in TV in the Summertime...

I'm sure they had a giant sign on their back that said "Snow Bird", which is how you knew that they weren't one of the cool people, who are stuck living in The Villages, 365 days a year.

Little early to start attacking snowbirds, since most haven’t arrived yet. So my guess is you were addressed by a full time resident biking, passing you, because they could, and did.

Looks like you have started posting in 2021, and hoped that you have learned not all issues are caused by those who choose to own more than one home, can come and go as often as they like, keep our economy running, Pay higher taxes, without taking up full time space.

But to blame snowbirds, for your issue just proves, you have more to learn.

"The younger, more sophisticated and savvy folks seem to be the new comers down south.

The middle of TV seems to have a lot of successful folks, fairly new to retirement.

By the time you get to the Northern/Historic area, you have the much older folks who moved to TV when it wasn't much more than a trailer park. These people seem to want the world to return to the way it was in 70's and they rail against anything new, while they bemoan the passing of the "good old days", when Harold Schwartz roamed Spanish Springs."

Snow bird here. We're not home yet although we will make sure we wear a white "S" on our backs when we do. We are 8 months at home in The Villages and 4 months in New England. By the time those 4 months are over I cannot wait to get home.

Regarding time to decompress, it does take us a bit of time to get back into a slower pace. A few rounds of golf usually takes care of that.

Not sure what the OP was trying to accomplish, other than stirring the xxxx pot. Silliest post of the week award.

Can't recognize a snowbird? Easiest thing in the world. Most folks wear shorts here. Check the legs and arms. Tanned arms + lily-white legs = SNOWBIRD. Not all, of course. But the odds certainly favor that.

These threads in the fall are as predictible as the sun coming up. A small core group of curmudgeons usually need to vent about increased traffic, boneheaded drivers, longer wait times at restaurants, prime-time tee times becoming harder to obtain, etc. etc. All true, of course, at least to an extent. But what some folks don't seem to realize is that the 'birds overwhelmingly are either property owners here in TV themselves, or are renting a home owned by ANOTHER property owner: in BOTH cases that means that the amenity fee for that home is paid for them just as it is for us who enjoy our little slice of heaven here year-round.

In other words, the 'birds aren't taking what is rightfully ours. Not in any way, shape, or form. They are merely claiming what they have every right to claim.

Interesting thing. One of the reasons we decided to buy here, was our experience as renters. Almost to a person the locals were warm and welcoming people, more than happy to engage us in conversation and share what they knew about life in TV. Today when we encounter 'birds we like to engage them in conversation. Admittedly some are a bit circumspect at first (they read the negative comments too, I suppose) but they warm up quickly once they realize we don't hate them or see them as interlopers of one kind or other.

Hopefully others make the same sort of effort. Makes things more pleasant for all of us.

Snowbirds aren't back yet. I've seen no increase in traffic. I've observed a lot of families visiting lately. The other reason I know is our foursome has yet to be hit upon while we're on the green and that only happens from late October thru March. It's just a fact!:throwtomatoes:

I spend 4-5 months north and the balance in TV. As far as the pace of life, if things got any slower in rural NY State, they wouldn't be moving at all. I have to "gear up" not "slow down" when I get to TV. Of course, if I'd remember not to turn left onto the roundabouts, in my golf cart, things would feel so sped up for me. Ah well....just another dumb snowbird. What do I know?

Yep , Snowbirds are mostly white, while us locals are a nice brown color.

Air conditioning turns you brown?

I use the tell tale sign of those facial cigarette looking burn marks from the dermatologist to identify a local. A long term local will have those burns combined with mile high white zinc covered ears.
