High sound volume at Old Mill Run

The sound volume at Old Mill Run theater is so high, it is painful. Even with Kleenex stuffed in my ears, it was unbearable. I left the movie today and got a refund.
My hearing is fine and I don’t want to ruin it.
Who controls the volume at the movies there? Does anyone else have a problem with it?

I agree, extremely loud. Main feature not as loud as previews.
Plugged my ears during previews!

LoL, no.

I haven't been there in awhile, but I do remember the sound being way too loud during the previews. I bring ear plugs.

Think the guy who controls the volume is named Quasimodo, but I'm not positive.

Yes, haven't been there in a few years but it was way too loud even then. That being said, a big part of the "theater experience" is the 900000 channel sound. When the place is empty (as it usually is except for the first couple days of a big release) it is worse than when full. I now download 99% of the films and watching them in 4K with 7 channel dolby atmos is good enough (and a lot cheaper) for me however there are a number of films that the big screen and loud sound would help to make better. Unfortunately, most of us are old folks and don't care for the loud sounds. For me, even sitting at Starbucks at LSL when the bands play is too loud and annoying which is why I leave at 5PM if we are out for coffee.

I stopped going to the movies many years ago. I have a hearing impairment, and the volume at movie theatres is unbearable for me (seems counterintuitive). I think it a range issue as well as volume and may have something to do with the technology used to amplify.

Pack of foam ear plugs at Walmart $2. I have to use them at aerobic classes too. My guess is that lot of people here that are losing hearing, but haven’t gotten to hearing aide stage where they can adjust the volume on the aides. Earplugs are protecting my hearing right now and letting me enjoy the surroundings. Just wish they made the ear plugs in flesh colors instead of blue and pink.

We’ve gone to the theater twice over the last two weeks at Lake Sumter. Saw “Oppenheimer” and also “A Haunting in Venice”. Both movies were extremely loud.

People whine when the theaters closed up and now that we are down to one, you’re whining that it’s too loud. When does the complaining ever end about the theaters?

Based on a recent trip to see Oppenheimer, I agree…volume very loud. Will be taking ear plugs in the future. Has anyone reported this to management?

NotGolfer 09-25-2023 06:41 AM

Notice at home that commercials run louder than the shows one is watching. Probably the same concept at theatres. We don't go to movies much anymore but yes....there is loudness.

jimdoowop 09-25-2023 06:54 AM

Way too loud. Considering not going anymore.

I never go to a movie or concert without foam earplugs. You can adjust the depth (into your ear) to cut out just enough sound to make it pleasant and understandable. Try it.

Hmmm did you try talking to the manager at the theater?
That might work better than complaining on TOTV, just a thought.
