I like Genesis 1:27 which states that God created a man and a woman.

I also like verses Genesis 2:20 thru 2:23 which states that Adam did not have a "helper suitable for him", so God pulled a rib from Adam and created a woman Eve.

So I guess Eve was Adam's second wife. I always wondered what happened to his first wife.

That would have been (according to the some of the ancient Mesopotamean and Judean texts) Lilith. AKA "primordial she-demon". She was banished from Eden for not getting with the program. According to how she is described, Adam must have been a bit sorry to see her go.

Genesis 1:27 = Summary
Genesis 2:20 - 2:23 = Details (as are often provided in different Bible chapters or even other Bible books)

My very favorite Bible verse:

Isaiah 6:1

1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

2Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

3And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

1 Kings 19:11-18

The LORD Appears to Elijah

The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by."

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.

Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

And later:

So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”

Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

I have a painting by Salvador Dali of his vision of Elijah in his chariot on my studio wall, and when I die if I am allowed to, I would like to seek out Elijah to ask a couple of questions. Velvet.

John 3:16 if I had to chose just one from many.
Lately, I have thought a lot about Matthew 6 during conversations with some folks. Seems like many strive for a pat on the back or brag about all the "good" things they have done for others. I am glad they do those nice things, but are they doing it for others or to make themselves feel good?

You must be a fan of Les Feldick a great man of God. He just passed away and will greatly be missed. They plan to keep "Through The Bible" on TV and we still support it.

Sounds like the starship Enterprise passed too close to the mountain.

Thank you for your great answer.

Maybe when I was young, I might have been intrigued by a "primordial she-demon", but after 52 years of a wonderful marriage, I am definitely sticking with my wife.

Ah, yes, Lilith. When the writers of Frasier gave that name to Frasier’s wife, they knew why.
