Do any readers know of a source for repairs on the 1984 through 1988 Pontiac Fiero cars?
The Pontiac Fiero is a rear mid-engine, light sports car manufactured and marketed by Pontiac for model years 1984–1988.

I would call Wildwood Tire or Sumter Tire, both have worked on my 1966 Mustang.

If you are concerned about them knowing how to work on your car, it just a GM engine and trans in a different location. I agree with the above recommendation.

Oh memories. I got a 1984 red and tan Fiero, brand new. I waited outside the Potiac dealer in Illinois to be the first in the door to order when announced. My 2nd mid engine 2 seat targa top little sports car, first was Fiat x/19.

I loved that Fiero for the first year, but then felt it was underpowered with the heavy 4cyl GM engine. Loved the fiberglass body panels, no dents, dings, rust. A good looking little car. Moved from IL to MA in 1990 and it traveled inside the moving truck on the second level. I had it for 6 years.

I do miss that car, memories…

I used to drive by "The Fiero Factory" in Madison county, Alabama. Probably a good thing to remember if you need some obscure out of production part.

Just out of curiosity what type of work do you need to have done?

If it is 4 cylinder any mechanic can work on it , if a six cylinder that motor was shoehorned into the space and is very hard to work on.

Actually the body panels on a Fiero were impact resistant ABS plastic. I knew a guy in MN that had one with a ford 289 transplanted in it.

A friend has a Fiero with a 350 Chevy engine in it. Rode with him one time and that car scared the you know what out of me. Too much engine for that small of a car.

I’m surprised to hear that a fiero is still on the road and hasn’t caught fire. There were a lot of issues with the fiero back in the day and hundreds if not more caught fire.
Some fiero owners would buy the Ferrari F40 kit for their fiero, but eventually this passed because of the issues with the car.

Wow a Fiero, haven't seen one in several years. My supervisor had a red one and almost sold it to me in 1985 but I opted for a new Toyota truck. I remember one feature for the Fiero was that you could pop a dent back out because of the body style. A girlfriend had a black Fiero back then too, and I think another girlfriend had a white one.

For tires I recommend people to Sumter Tire since they did a great job at a reasonable price replacing 4 tires on my car which were about 10 years old. If they're just as good with car repairs then that may be a good thing. Tinker knows and would follow his advice.

Black ice totaled my Fiero in a ditch. I got a broken neck.

I was looking at Fieros when I bought my first new car out of college, but opted for a Pontiac Sunbird instead. Too practical on my part.

It wasn't a bad decision, as Fiero really didn't come into its own until got the six cylinder. Unfortunately, by that time, the reputation for issues and the cost of producing a very specialized car doomed it. Pity.
