Irrigation sprinkler question

Was wandering what the best irrigation sprinklers you can buy that exhibit the most powerful sprays. Please give me the name of the sprinkler heads and where to buy them? Thanks

IMHO, you should probably hire an irrigation professional to survey your lot and make a determination IF any of your existing sprinkler heads need to be replaced or just adjusted. We have over 3 dozen sprinkler heads with the original builder installation, and none had to be replaced, several needed to be adjusted. This cost was much less than changing all of the sprinkler heads. That was 10 years ago, just getting ready to have the system reviewed again.

If Best & powerful are really, really, really what you are looking for, Rain Bird.

But, you probably only need one or two because golf courses use them for their quality & power.

There are too many different factors, without seeing your existing set-up, for anyone to give a hard and fast answer.

It'd depend on what you currently have in your lawn... rotors, mini-rotors, fixed head sprayers, MP rotators, etc. It'll also depend on where in TV you reside. The older areas typically have 3/4" lines and elbows for the high output rotors. The further south you go in TV, the got away from those in favor of more water conserving irrigation heads and nozzles.

It's not a simple answer that is limited to a single brand, as Hunter & RainBird both carry a wide variety of heads and nozzles to get the job done.

You really need to consult with a trusted, professional irrigation company to look at your existing equipment.

1/2 inch line and pressure only going to supply so much volume regardless of the sprinkler head. Usually main supply 3/4 inch and sprinklers line reduced to 1/2” in my area.

Rachio 3 controller
Tempest weather station
EveryDrop flow meter
Pressure regulated sprinkler risers with check valve
Rotary type sprinkler nozzles

Not a brand, but a type. Impulse rotor. That will get you the distance, with the right nozzle.

Rainbird 32SA is a very nice gear driven rotor and you can always purchase a nozzle tree with six different size spray nozzles if you need to. Amazon or Sparrs also carries them. I've put in over 100 of them.

Many people prefer everywhere is covered by several overlapping heads for more even coverage.
If you are trying to spread out and minimize head count, that could be a problem where the ends of the sprays overlap. Double the amount of water in a few areas makes things uneven.

Are you watering a golf course or a 1/16th acre lot? Each of my hunter heads can go the width of the yard on each side . . wondering where you are that needs the most powerful sprays!

good luck

I've replaced a couple of the damaged low flow heads out near the street with Hunter PGP rotors. As someone else stated, in our area it's a 1/2 line running to the heads, so I had to add couplers that go from 1/2 to 3/4 for the Hunters. They work really well and water pressure is not a problem. I actually had to adjust the heads as if they are open the whole way, the spray goes about 30 feet.
