Cigar Smoking Places
 

So I have recently taken up cigar smoking as a hobby and absolutely love it! My old habits as a "Foodie" and cook have faded away with my new diet, so cigars are my amazing new discovery. But, WHERE can I go to enjoy a cigar (hopefully amongst other afficianados) as far as businesses are concerned.
I love Garvino's and go there often. Arnold Palmer has a club that meets there outside. Are there any herfs in The Villages (Google it)? The cigar is truly a "mini vacation", and the fraternization among cigar smoking patrons is unmatched. I just would like to know of places where cigar smoking is welcomed and catered to so that I can go there. Thanks in advance for your help and recommendations my fellow Villagers!

There is a group of about 10 guys who smoke cigars on the front porch of the Belle Glade country club on Monday afternoon, around 3 to 4 PM or so.

A good cigar, a glass of single malt, and good company are a hard to beat combination I must agree and a trio that I enjoyed for many a year.

Sadly, I know myself well enough and know that a good cigar has more than once foiled my efforts to stop smoking cigarettes so I have had to swear them off also, but I still love to aroma of a good cuban and still enjoy the occasional fellowship to solve the worlds problems.

There are a few groups of men and women here in TV that also enjoy a good smoke also, but it is a relatively small number and many meet at private residents and enjoy one of life's finer pleasantries on the privacy of their front porch or lanai. Go for an evening drive in the golf cart with your nose I bloodhound mode and within a few minutes you will sniff one of these groups out. Stop in and introduce yourself.

As far as a public venue, these are much rarer and unfortunately you will also have to deal with some of the self righteous moral police that walk the streets of our community wearing an overdose of their $3/gallon cheap perfume and complaining about the "smell" and spouting insults. (best solution I ever saw for this was on a cruise ship a few years ago in the smoking area, 2 women (won't use the word ladies, they weren't) came over and started lecturing a group of guys about their "disgusting habit", no strangers to the lectures, they all took a deep drawl and all at the same time engulfed the 2 in a huge cloud of fragrant aroma, the two left very quickly, and their problem solving continued unabated there after...). You can expect the same type of comments by the moral police here to your post that should also be duly ignored.

We both love the aroma of an expensive cigar, bring back memories with parental units. There’s are a few small groups that meet privately at Goldwing posted.

There is the ability to post a new club, and start with as many as you choose. Meeting at a private location. I will say not sure I would give up cooking well prepared meals to go back to a Cuban, but medically both are becoming off the list. Enjoy

It's not allowed at most villages locations, such as pools, rec centers (inside and outside seating areas), all restaurants, all outdoor sporting and rec facilities (courts, dog parks, exercise areas, fire pits, pavilions, etc), TV vehicles, inside all businesses except specific smoking only stores, patio areas that do not specifically have signage permitting it, all bars, designated hotel rooms, designated rental cars... and so on.
Just because you can light up does not make it ok.

Now the haters will kick in. Sorry, but those are the rules.

Certainly can happen. In public best to respect others: smoke away from crowds or if that is unavoidable, position yourself downwind.

It is fun to out the self-righteous, though. Back in the day ("the day" being the 1990s) I was a dedicated pipe smoker. An experiment I tried a couple of time was walking into a store with a brand-new pipe, not broken in or seasoned, in my mouth. A fellow female shopper spied near the end of her aisle and began fanning the air in front of her while coughing delicately. She got a rather angry look on her face as I strolled on by her while commenting "it's not lit".

Are these rules listed somewhere? Are they particular to cigars only over cigarettes (much worse healthwise) or even pot? I smell pot in many places in The Villages. Kind of ironic to me that this is where we are as a nation. But I genuinely would like to know if there is a "blanket" rule/general rule for The Villages about smoking areas FOR CIGARS. Thanks.

Some country clubs, like Evans, have smoking areas with bar service.

Town Squares.....not right on the dance floor.......but the sidewalks are available.

Some Squares have breeze-ways you can smoke and drink.

You can sit in your golf carts at Squares and smoke.

Golf courses.

City Fire.

To name a few.

I frequently go down by sumter landing by the radio station. Great place for people watching. Also chairs along the boardwalk overlooking the water.

On Thursday nights 7pm I'm told some of us Cigar people meet at Riverbend Rec Center. I'm planning on joining them this week. Have not been yet but my neighbor has.

Report back what it's all about.
