Cable and Internet Providers

I'll be moving down to Lake Denham in December and was wondering which provider for cable and internet that you would recommend? My contract lists the following providers: Comcast Xfinity, Spectrum and Centric Fiber.

Xfinity

spectrum

no contracts, vacation mode, 300 min speed

been with them 10 years, very minimum rate increases.

I've come up on my end of contract with Xfinity and I am wondering the same thing. I've been happy with them, and I have my cell phones with them as well. Got two Apple iPhone SE free about this time two years ago. Waiting to see what they offer me as far as a phone upgrade/price.

Neighbor has Spectrum and is happy with them. They are offering a deal now for a free unlimited data phone line for a year. However, I need two phones, so after a two year period, the price is about the same as I'm currently paying with Xfinity, maybe a little more.

Don't know anything about Centric Fiber, but willing to consider them.

If you just want internet connectivity and are planning to stream, absolutely check out Centric. They connect you via fiber at fast speeds, good pricing, and high availability.

We are in Newell and use Centric Fiber. Your house probably already has the modem there. They don't even need to come to the house to activate. Check out their website. We have been happy with them.

xFinity. Not the cheapest but fast and reliable. We have them for internet plus two iPhones w/unlimited data each month. About $175 total + Amazon Prime (about $14 per month--I think. Haven't checked in awhile).

I live in DeSoto. When I go to their website and put in my address, it gives no response. Not a yes, not a no, nothing. Maybe it's not available everywhere in the Villages?

Is Spectrum Internet Only, or do they offer cable service too?

Centric fiber, hands down. If you ever have a choice of fiber, that is the best and most reliable internet service you can get and it’s usually cheaper with higher speeds. If you check speeds, fiber is the only network that gives you the same speed for uploads and downloads. For example, if you have any copper cable network like spectrum or xfinity, you can get 1Gb speed (1000Mb) for downloads but only 20-40Mb upload speed, whereas fiber gives you 1Gb down and 1Gb up speeds. Also, spectrum/xfinity will slow down when more neighbors are using the network, fiber not. Also, your network latency is much lower with fiber than with xfinity or spectrum.

Xfinity has been working great for almost 4 years for us.

Are they in the Villages? I am with Comcast/Xfinity, and have only internet, about $60/mo for 400mb down load. But around dinner when more people are on it goes down to about 250. I stream, and the tests on the TV sometimes show 25/30 when it should be showing 80. I pay roughly the same in NH, and get crappy service there. TV are all underground wires, where would the fiber come in? Seems like the way to go.

Great info. Are they available in The Villages, do you know?

Not sure on that one. Give them a call, they were very easy to contact and speak with.

Newell is a village in the Villages, so yes they are. A lot of the newer houses have fiber built into them. Not sure about yours.
