report fr the jersey shore

11:30 pm: :cold:
*general state of emergency declared for the state
*coastal communities individually declared their own state of emergency
*nj transit trains have ceased operation - only work crews working overnight to clear tracks and switches for limited operation tomorrow
*have been under blizzard conditions for approx 6 hrs
*don't have snowfall amounts, but can tell you that the snow on my porch is a couple of inches high against the front and side doors
*drifts are anywhere from 4' to 6' ft against garage and fence around the yard and there's prob a foot or so piled up in the above ground pool cover
*approx 2,000 people in the shore area are without power
*local newspaper posted a notice on their website that an in-depth version of the paper will be available on-line since delivery will surely be impacted

but the heat is still on in our house and we still have our power; it was kind of freaky a couple of hours ago when we had thunder and lightening along with the snow! since i have had enough of this snow stuff for now, am heading to bed while it is still warm - if we're gonna lose power i want to be sound asleep and snuggled up warm and toasty. one not-so-bad aspect of this storm - i did not have to walk the trash to the curb for pick-up tomorrow - it just had to go to the can on the back porch! am sure it will stay buried in snow 'til the next pick-up thurs!

and it's gonna be sunny and in the low 50s by the weekend! nite nite.

Much of the same here in Brick. Lot's of snow with drifts blocking the front door up to my chest and I'm 6'2". Live in an adult community so they come around and do the shoveling so based on all that's out there I'm going to let them have their way and do it for me. Although based on the accumulation I might not see them until tomorrow. That's O.K. I'll just go into work on Wednesday instead. We were very fortunate not to lose power....yet. Wind still howling and drifts changing by the hour.:cold: I guess I'll miss my Asbury Park Press with coffee this morning:mad:

I'm coming Army Guy as fast as I can. Now if only someone would buy Sue's business and our house it would certainly speed up the move.

Hi from Cape May County, NJ where we have only 15 inches or so and fortunately did not lose power. The wind is howling, the snow is blowing and life is good because I am packing (winter and summer stuff) and we will see you all on Sunday.
