The Chop House: American Steakhouse, Seafood Restaurant and Wine Bar | Steaks, Chops, and Seafood

I have heard good things about this place but have not been there. Omaha Steaks at home is my go to.

Chophouse is good. Regarding Omaha that’s a huge no. Way overpriced (do math per pound and don’t count filler crap like apple tarts). Also their steak isn’t even USDA graded.

I buy USDA Prime filet mignon from Publix. It costs about $35 per pound, but it is better than any restaurant steak I have had. By the way, the only way to get a USDA Prime filet mignon in a nearby restaurant is to go to Ruth Chris in Orlando. Not Chophouse, Prime 3, or Mark's in Ocala, or any other place that I know of.

We’ve enjoyed Texas Roadhouse very consistent at all their resturants.
Longhorn corner Rolling Acres/441 gets busy long wait times but consistant

They explain that-- https://www.omahasteaks.com/blog/why...eef-is-better/

I have been getting brochures for Kansas City Steaks which looks very pricey. Steaks - Premium Steaks - Gourmet Steaks Online | Kansas City Steaks

Thanks for the info. I don't understand the Omaha comments about USDA grading.

They say, "The USDA grade of beef depends on really just one factor: marbling." And, they say that their steaks have "exceptional" marbling. So, if that is the case, why don't their steaks have a USDA Prime grade?

Regarding the Kansas City Steaks, they are pricey. They charge $120 per pound for USDA Prime filet mignon, as compared to $35 per pound at Publix. I have never been disappointed with the Publix steaks. You can definitely tell the difference in tenderness between USDA Prime vs USDA Choice.

They do have excellent marbling.

My two brothers both got to very expensive dinners and on their businesses' expense while meeting with customers but I never had that opportunity. Law librarians usually ate at rather inexpensive places. So I never got to one of these very fancy steak places.

We digress on the Omaha thing, but even their first package is over $30/lb and only just over 1 lb of that is steak (cheap top sirloin). The rest is chicken and meatballs. They are not a good value. Now if you don't mind paying for good steaks (for home), Creekstone Farm is my go to. I also buy some stuff from Wildfork Foods. They are a good value and usually good quality.

Honestly though, for steaks you can find good stuff at the supermarket if you know what to look for.

Anyhow back to the OP, not directly in the Villages, but Prime 3 in Leesburg was great. Expensive, but really good.

Costco has prime. Recently read an article that said, Costco is one reason so many steak restaurant's have closed. Their prime is a fraction of the cost of a steak place. Yes I know there isn't one around here.

Well I can’t help, I haven’t had good steak in 30 years.

Sam's Club has prime steaks also, but I much prefer the ones at Publix.

I have found Winn-Dixie has better beef.

Note that only about 2 percent of the beef produced in the U.S. is graded as prime. The Winn-Dixie I go to in Pinellas Plaza doesn't sell any prime beef.

I think Fresh Market has USDA Prime also.
