Chrome

I was unable to view the webcams at both squares and it was suggested on the general forum site to try chrome. I did and set centurylink as my home page. I now have a problem with my e-mail. As soon as I hit the "forward" button, the e-mail disappears (page goes blank) and the recipient receives a blank page from me. Any idea why this is happening? Does not happen with IE. Thanks in advance.

Tom,
I was told by Centurylink just the other day, that they have made changes to their e-mail server - and its just plain messed up now. Forwarded mail goes out with HTML coding, etc.

Try going to Thunderbird for your mail, and avoid that problem.

Also, if/when Chrome doesn't work, go back to I.E. You can use any browser you want for any page that works better with one, than another. Some people use FireFox for some pages, I.E. for others, and Chrome for still other pages.

Also a word of advice about Chrome. It embeds itself into your registry and bumps out all the other browsers. It's a real pain to uninstall. You actually have to go into the registry and change files.

I tried Chrome but didn't like it. It doesn't include a lot of the apps that Firefox has, and I don't think it's any faster. Will try now to uninstall it.

No need to uninstall Chrome. You can set any browser to be the default. I have 4 browsers installed but use Firefox (v 3.6.13) 99% of the time. Don't even notice the other browsers are there unless I want them.

For example: If you want Firefox as the default browser - open up a Firefox window - choose Tools then Options then on the General tab choose the option to have Firefox be your default browser.

You may have to go into the other browsers and do basically the same to not have the ask to be the default. But that is a one-time thing.

I just uninstalled chrome. No problem. There was a 4 question survey as to "why" at the end.

I have IE, FF, and Chrome. I find Chrome faster. I realize it somewhat bare bones (maybe that is why it is faster) but it works for me.

Same - Same.

But I use FF and no issues with Chrome bumping out either IE or FF.
