Passes when renting

Are there 2 types of passes to get when renting? We are renting in Alden Villas for the month of April. We are not golfers. Just want to enjoy all the other amenities .

When my in-laws rented for a month they were given IDs when they picked up their keys from the Sales Office. The IDs did not have their names on them and I believe they were dated but otherwise they were the same IDs that residents have.

- The homeowner had to turn his ID in before the temporary resident ID will be made available
- It *might* be necessary for the rental to be coordinated through the Sales Office. Otherwise, I don't know how to request the temporary resident ID

Types of IDs (that I am aware of):
- Permanent Resident ID: For those whose names are on the deed
- Non-Owner Permanent Resident ID: Name not on the deed but permanent resident
- Temporary Resident ID: This is what my in-laws had for their 30-day rental

- Guest ID: For guests of residents - no access to some amenities
- In-area Guest ID: For relatives of residents whose address is within Lake, Sumter, or Marion counties - even more restrictions on access to amenities

Thank you!

Your landlord will provide the paperwork for IDs.

If you are on lifestyle the developer provides your id and keys.

If the renters don't golf and won't be using the sports pools, guest passes is the easiest way to go. Otherwise, you have to order temporary resident IDs, maximum of 2 and it temporarily invalidates the 2 resident ID's assigned to your home.

Oh, man, when I saw the title of this post I thought your renter passed away!

If they are "renters" isn't this suggestion gaming the system?

I suppose if the landlord intended to use The Villages facilities while they rent out their place it could be but that would be a highly unlikely scenario. A very small percentage of landlords in the Villages live locally outside of the Villages.

Most of the time when renters are non-golfers it's just easier/quicker to order the guest passes, and they do not need to pay the $50 fee.

I have the same question! I only like the pools and don't use any other amenity.

I do know that if you don't use any amenity you don't have to pay the fee. But I don't know of any partial pass.

Renters

We had a situation where some friends of our sold their house and moved up north. The person they sold their house to said he would rent them their house for a couple months and move in with his brother. In the mean time he connects with neighbor and she moves in with him and now her house is empty with no passes available. They called the villages and they are able to get passes for the two months they will be here.

There is a 'Renters' Pass'. Different from a 'Guest Pass'.

The best source of information would be to ask the person you are renting from. There is more than 1 way to do it, and only they know how they are handling your passes.

You need to bring this up with your landlord. They are the ones that get the guest passes for you.

It's called a "temporary resident ID" which is $50. Only required for golf and sports pools. If the renter doesn't golf or do sports pools activities they should request "guest passes" instead and save the $50.
