Just paid 125 on renewal with multi policy discount. That quote is in the ballpark

Not a bad price. We have a similar policy w/Progressive that costs a bit more.

The weird thing about golf cart insurance is you tell them how much you want to value the cart at.

There really isn't any official Kelley Blue Book-like value system.

Maybe dealers have some value guide for trade-ins but a public one is not available or trustworthy.

What value system is the insurance company using?

I paid $300 for insurance for a brand-new 2023 Yamaha with a value of what I exactly paid for it.

In March I will drop the value of it and get a cheaper rate.

Did they ask you what the value of the cart is?

Lots of carts are getting stolen in TV and would hate to get half of their real value if stolen.

I paid about $20 more a year for basically the same coverage through Progressive for a 2023 Yamaha Quietech. Considering that it includes collision and comprehensive and liability, I thought that was a good deal.

Liability, uninsured motorist are most important.

2016 is $118 yearly.

$185 for 2023 loaded quiet tech. Policy cost based on cost of cart. Our End cost with discounts $23,682.

We don’t bundle have carts with different insurance than our home or auto, based on advice from our insurance guy.

Did they say why not bundle the cart with auto?

dtennent 01-22-2024 10:33 AM

The price is about right. For me, liability coverage is the most important part of the insurance.

Safeco for 15 years has not changed $100 a year

Yes if you bundle with homeowners and you file a claim on cart, it can directly effect you homeowners either rate or if you have a home and cart claim it may end of with a cancellation of homeowners. In today’s insurance world I don’t trust any, so auto, homeowners and carts are all with different companies

Buying insurance is no different than gambling. You bet the insurance company $200 that you will wreck your cart within one year. They bet an amount equal to what your cart is worth that you won't have a crash. At the end of one year you renew the bet. The trouble with betting against the house (in this case, the insurance company) is that the house always wins in the long run. I don't gamble so if insuring something (like my cart) is not mandatory by law, then I don't.

Makes sense, thanks.

So you wouldn't add insurance to a $15,000 cart that can be stolen with a luggage key?
