Auto mechanic reference needed

I have an OLD Toyota Camry with 200,000 miles on the odometer. I'm hoping someone can give me a reference for a good, honest mechanic that won't try to fleece me out of money for repairs just because I'm a woman & don't know a transmission from a carbuerator! Thanks in advance!

Someone told me there is such a mechanic....He lives in Iowa. If you find another in TV make sure you let me know. My Mini Cooper can use someone who is honest and good.

Highly recommend TriCounty Automotive on 441 across from the hospital, just before Lowe's. Honest, competent and very nice people. 753-5400.

Another vote for TriCounty. I thought I needed a new clutch in my Miata, which means totally removing the engine and a charge well over $1,500. Had my car towed to them, they called and said it was my slave plate ($350). They could have charged me for the clutch -- I would have never known. (And I know the difference between a carb and a tranny.)

We found Mike's Auto Repair, or something similar here on the blog under automotive repair. He's just off 466A, Villa Avenue. Send me a personal email and I'll look for the number when I get home after work. He doesn't have the nice, neat shop of the dealership but got the job done for hundreds less. We'll go back to him!

I have found TriCOunty to be very honest as well. Don't try to rip you off if you don't really need a repair or service. The can be rather pricey though.
