Other than welcoming back a political poster, I haven't written here in a while. But I still read the thread, and must say I'm amazed to see none of the usual angry objections to any of the monumental legislation which became law in the last month.

Could that possibly mean the usual objectors to anything promoted or supported by the President might actually agree these new laws are positive steps? OMG!!

Happy New Year! I've been so busy with Christmas, traveling, guests and things associated with the New Year and guests, I haven't had time to post much. I have some interesting topics to discuss though. Just give me a little time. My decorations are coming down this week.

Approval rating

I just read that Gallup Poll has shown a 50% approval rating for President Obama at this time. The poll showed that 80% of Democrats thought he was doing a good job and 47% of "independents" also approved of the President's performance.

Going back to George W. Bush's Gallup Poll approval rating after the same length of time in office, you will find his Gallup Poll approval rating was 37%.

It will be very interesting to see in which direction that Speaker Boner will take Congress - if it will be one of bipartisanship or one of antagonism. We need bi-partisanship to move the country ahead. Now that Nancy Pelosi is not in charge, let's hope for a Congress that we can be proud of and that means both parties have to work together.

Okay, here goes. Tbugs, I looked at the Gallup Poll you mentioned. It is a Gallup Daily tracking poll. According to Gallup, "The current 50% average over the last three days could reflect a temporary increase in optimism that Gallup sometimes sees at the beginning of a new year. The latest numbers also come at a time when the president was on vacation in Hawaii and out of the political spotlight, following a highly publicized pre-Christmas session with Congress that resulted in the passage of several major pieces of legislation."

So he got his highest approval rating since early-spring of 2010 because people were still feeling good after the holidays and because they knew he was on vacation and couldn't do any more harm. bwahahaha Oh that felt good. :1rotfl:

Of course, how does that explain George W. Bush's approval rating of 37% at his same point in office? Obviously, more Americans feel President Obama is doing a better job than they did with Bush, Jr.

It also is going to be extremely interesting to see approval ratings on Speaker Boner after 1 year and of Rick Scott after 1 year.

I guess all the Bush supporters were out working and missed the Gallup call. Man, I'm cracking myself up tonight. I'm almost as funny as the Obama supporters on here.
