Some people should just not drink
 

In reading THE VILLAGES NEWS there always is an article about people being pulled over for a DUI. When asked how many drinks they have, the answer is around 2. If it takes only 2 drinks to be pulled over, maybe should consider not drinking. I know those people would not lie about how many drinks they have consumed. RIGHT.

Heh. Just as The Daily Sun is nonstop rainbows and unicorns, v i l l a g e s n e w s is all sleaze all the time. The truth content of a lot of the stories may be variable, but you can bet that if a story reflects negatively on The Villager or TV in general, v i l l a g e s. N e w s will run it.

I agree. Some people should not drink. But depending on v i l l a g e s. N e w s for the information necessary to make such a judgment might be just a bit suspect.

Or…they can only remember the last two….

I think you may have described most ‘news’ mediums. VN/DS crime, hoarding etc stories can be easily fact checked via public records, published police reports, CDD and the like. The fact that some in these stories are in fact Villages residents..the negative connotations are unavoidable. But guess what, it’s the same in any community in anywhere USA

People stupidly think admitting drinking but not drinking a lot will gain them leniency. This is an incorrect assumption. If an officer asks if you’ve been drinking he has already determined that you’ve been drinking. The only correct answer to this question is “I exercise my right to remain silent.” Then they should refuse a field sobriety test and refuse a breathalyzer. Of course if they are drunk enough to be impaired they don’t always make these correct decisions.

There were 129 DUI's in Sumter County last year and 29 of them were in Wildwood.

I agree, but if the cop thinks you have been drinking you are losing your driving privileges regardless. The key is to not give them any additional evidence. You will be better off in the long run if you don't get convicted. If you say you were drinking any amount or fail a sobriety test, you are getting convicted.

Now in my current adulthood status I would say that if you take a sobriety test there is no way you will pass. I feel now that if you have to take that test you are all but already convicted. HOWEVER, as a young adult, leaving Hampton Beach NH, I was pulled over, took the field sobriety test and passed. I was drunk but not hammered, maybe 4 or 5 beers over 2.5 hours. The officer estimated me at 0.6 or something. But who knows, maybe it was my white priviledge. :D
