Purging/cleaning

Over time I've seen folks ask what they can keep in their garage attic. We're cleaning ours out and pulling out items that have been up there for years. Those plastic totes with covers....they have split so aren't any good. The heat in our garages here is too intense if you're wanting to keep items. A philosophy to live by is if you haven't (or needed) something in a year, then maybe it's time to "retire" it.....aka donating or throwing it away.

The one thing I wish we hadn't stashed in the attic is suitcases. Those rubber-like handles on the spinners became sticky. We had to replace the suitcases and now keep them inside.

We have enough stuff we do not use in our garage. Hard to get dear wife to agree we will never use something we do not use

I suspect half of what I would get rid of, she would never notice was gone. However not ready for that disagreement if she remembers something is missing

A catchy phrase invented by a woman. Along with, "Not tonight. I have a headache".

A lot of that going around

Don't store anything in my attic but if I did, I would store metal and glass items only. No cardboard (bugs and rodents love it) or plastic (melts) as the attic is an oven.

Happy wife, happy life very true. Man caves good idea as well. Makes for good balance.

Christmas decorations are up there

I did the same thing when we moved here in 2001. One piece of luggage was leather and it got moldy. The others had what you had sticky handles. Also, I found that if you don't use a curling iron for a long time, even if stored in the house, the handle will get sticky.

We need help to clean out ours, too!!!!!

We (age 83 & 89) would love to get help cleaning our garage attic out and pulling out items that have been up there for (14?) years. We're no longer able to do that kind of work due to disabilities of age. The heat in our attic has ruined most of what's there - so we'll need to do it near a refuse pickup day. We're on Social Security only so the cost needs to be really reasonable. We're in the upper NW part of TV. Anyone know what junk removers charge?????

That’s been debunked....in the spirit of being a team, it’s happy spouse, happy house!

I wish I'd had a video camera when my wife used this line (jokingly) and I responded "happy spouse, happy house" -- it was priceless! :D

Also, to each their own… bathroom!
