Help! Squirrels making holes in Lanai Screen

Has anyone had their lanai re-screened with squirrel proof screen?

Thanks

Never heard of "squirrel proof screen" but there is a product called "pet screen" that can allow large cats to climb the screen without damaging it. Try contacting White Aluminum (route 441 Leesburg) if you are looking for a DIY as they will probably have this in stock, be sure to get the correct spline. If you are looking for someone to install new screening, I recently used A+ screens and was very pleased with their work.

Can you please tell me how much it costs to have lanai screen replaced? I have a patio villa and screening is looking pretty old with a few holes in it. Thank you.

Can you discourage squirrels in some way from even coming onto your property?

I've found a stern talking-to does the trick, if you toss in a "get off my lawn!" at least twice a month for good measure.

But - no, there exists no way to prevent critters from entering your property, unless you enclose the entire property roof to floor.

Meanwhile - to the OP - I have a pet screen on my lanai windows. It doesn't keep critters off, but it does make it harder for them to cause damage. It's a more expensive option - the screen appears to be a thicker black mesh, maybe nylon rather than metal? Or nylon-coated. The anoles love it, whatever it is. Squirrels sometimes like skittering up it but not often. In the 3 years we've had it, we've seen zero sign of damage.

Most window replacement companies have it available.

Throw lots of nuts around neighbor's property.

Never ask us amateurs on social media how much something costs because we might not have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night?

No I cannot, one panel through another company was $350, 33 panels through A+ was $2500, you will need to call a supplier, but I know single panel replacements are expensive.

Spray the screen. Reapply if it rains. Does not smell that bad , squirrels do not like it. Squirrel Stopper about 15 dollars per can. At Ace Hardware.

You might look into re-screening with a 12” to 18” tall aluminum stripe along the bottom. Some screening companies do it. They look sharp and generally keep ground-level critters out.
