My friend is being thrown an 80th birthday party and the kids are looking for a photographer since almost all of family is coming for event.

Anyone know of someone to recommend?

I see you are not getting any replies, so I will suggest this, almost everyone will be carrying a cell phone so ask everyone to take photos, and then send them to you. You can sort through the photos for your album. Also, for the group photos, if there are any waite staff they will usually be glad to take the group photos.
The other advantage of this is if you find someone with photoshop (or equal) you will then be able to customize the photos.
