Dunkins first encounter with a cat was on the boardwalk at Lake Sumter Landing.

Dunkin, “Well, hello there!”
Kitty, “Keep your distance!”

There is a litter of 3-4 kittens, in the area.
Dunkin may have met the parent.

& the bad news is: that cat was just beginning to get serious 😳

I hope Duncan left the scene promptly

Years ago, when I had my horse farm, I adopted a Shepherd/Doberman from the shelter. A few days later he was at the barn with me, when he met the barn cat.... he followed it around the corner and I heard a yelp. He came back to me with three red ribbons, on his nose. He never looked at a cat again. They have five weapons systems they can deploy independently..... don't get too close...... that cat is locked and loaded.

We have cats, and it takes 2 people and a special "harness" to hold the cat is place for trimming their nails, they are never happy until released.

Years ago I brought a very friendly golden retriever home to my young adult cat. The dog was very interested in the kitty. The cat was also very friendly but when he got too close she put a paw (with open claws) on his muzzle to hold him still and then, relatively gently, boxed his nose a few times. Just as a warning, no biting, no ripping of flesh, no clawing his eyes out. She was just establishing boundaries. Which from that time on, were respected.

Not as tired as we are of grumps. Didn't your mother tell you if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?
