Since our travel might include late evening arrival when bus and shuttle services aren't regular, who can you recommend for a reliable car service?

No guarantees in life besides death and taxes. After you land, overnight in hotel by airport. Take shuttle next day.

Otherwise your at the mercy of people, weather and mechanical issues.

As someone who traveled for business, my recommendations would be to always schedule your flights, especially in the summer months, to arrive at your destination as early in the day as possible. Thunderstorms wreak havoc with the airline industry.
