Lumio?? New meter

A man just knocked on my door and talked about switching meters. He became somewhat irate when i did not listen. I think he had a shirt with Limio or something similar to that. I asked if he worked for Duke. I didn’t understand his answer, but it was not yes.

Can someone explain please?

I received a text message from SECO about meter replacements, but they stated it was by SECO employees in SECO trucks.

Thanks VT! I have Duke. I dont think they are replacing meters.

Selling solar, probably talking about "net" metering.

“ Duke Energy has been installing smart meters for customers across six states since 2012, and as of January 2021, nearly every customer was expected to have one. The digital meters are part of the company's plan to modernize the grid and provide customers with more control over their energy usage.“

Thanks for the information!

I contacted Duke Energy. The said I don't need a new meter and that the man that came to the house does not work for Duke. He is coming back today "when my husband is home" (I dont have a husband). My ring records it all.

It’s hard to explain when you dont have a lot of info. Did you ask for a business card? Office number, company name? Did you see a work truck?

These people came to my house also. Oddly, it was in the evening. I stepped outside to talk to the lady, and it quickly became apparent she was trying to sell me solar panels camouflaged as a Duke representative. I told her to go away.

Lumio is indeed a solar panel utility out of Orlando...

In The Villages, you would need ARC approval to have a system installed (I believe) plus you would need to understand what Federal credits still exist.....

Soliciting

Don’t answer door for someone I don’t know is my advice .

coleprice 06-22-2024 06:33 AM

This was a deceptive attempt to sell you Solar for your home. These people are soliciting in The Villages, but they're trying to confuse residents into believing that they represent Duke Energy. Just tell them to leave and slam the door!

Our neighbor got hoodwinked by a solar company here 2 years ago. 20k down the drain. Beware!

Exactly! We never open the door to strangers. That’s what a doorbell camera is for. Occasionally we’ll communicate with someone through the camera, but usually we just ignore if we don’t recognize them.

Did you call Duke?
