Parking trucks after 1July
Hi,
I am planning to move within the next 18 months to the villages. So today I ran across an article about parking in HOA's, HB-1203. As I tow a toy hauler RV at 20K pounds with a 1 ton Dully. Wondering if I would now be able to park this truck in my driveway. Ken Lohmann |
Read your dead restrictions, most allow for smaller trucks (around 1500 pound) capability to be parked in the driveway. IMHO your truck may be too large.

I believe he is talking about a recently passed bill that will allow people to parking their vehicle in their driveway as long as it is not classified as a commercial vehicle. Here is the part I believe he is talking about. I think this bill goes into effect on July 1.
(b) A property owner or a tenant, a guest, or an invitee 918 of the property owner from parking his or her personal vehicle, 919 including a pickup truck, in the property owner's driveway, or 920 in any other area at which the property owner or the property 921 owner's tenant, guest, or invitee has a right to park as 922 governed by state, county, and municipal regulations. The 923 homeowners' association documents, including declarations of 924 covenants, articles of incorporation, or bylaws, may not 925 prohibit, regardless of any official insignia or visible designation, a property owner or a tenant, a guest, or an 927 invitee of the property owner from parking his or her work 928 vehicle, which is not a commercial motor vehicle as defined in 929 s. 320.01(25), in the property owner's driveway. |

As mentioned previously, take a look at your deed restrictions and the ARC manual for your District to see what is and is not allowed. |

As stated previously, no HOA in The Villages. |
You can park a 3/4 ton in your driveway but 1 ton duallys are not allowed. And that's a fact jack.

Only park 1/2 truck in my neighborhood village. |
Trucks parked in driveways……just add so much.

There is some controversy about it but you may be able to park it on the street in some villages. The streets are controlled by the county. Even if you legally can park in the street your neighbors would be very unhappy. That doesn’t make for a peaceful retirement environment.

It just depends on how quickly you get warned and then possibly towed. If not that, then if you want your neighbors to hate the sight of you whenever your outside. Entitlement attitude comes with a price.

we do not have HOA'S in the villages

Just wanted to note that in some CDDs its illegal to park in the street. Not aggressively enforced, but when complaints are received they do ticket.

One can see the "cabana" (RV garage) near the Water Lily Rec center area. One can also birdcage your whole back yard. Straight across from the Water Lily Golf Cart bridge you can see the second anomaly of DeLuna housing designs that seem to defy ARC rules but doesn't. Wording is everything when implementing architectural design to fit ARC rules. Lots of perks if you plan ahead.
