Ski Beach in Leesburg

First time at Ski Beach in Leesburg - Awesome lake view! Decent fish fry (fried oysters / hushpuppies/ fries) - service was very good! Not too far of a drive from TV, especially if coming from south of 44. Will add to my restaurant rotation. Interested in hearing from others who have been to Ski Beach and what you ordered.

One of our favorites.

Only been once. Enjoyed it. Same owners as Eaton's Beach.

Members of The Villages Gourmet Club give it an Above Average Rating of 10. You can read reviews from just people in The Villages HERE. We like this place too. Much like Eaton's Beach. Sometimes short on staff, so waiting is a frequent problem.

Skip

We like Ski Beach. Pastrami dishes are often out of stock. The Mac & Cheese and Shrimp & Grits are pretty good. Also like the green fried tomatoes as an appetizer.

Have had fish dinners hear that were ok. How is the pastrami? Anything like what we would have gotten in NYC?

Good food. Good beer selection. Friendly staff (usually good service, but sometimes slow). The view of the water is a bonus.

The pastrami is quite good, but not if you are thinking it will be NY Deli style. I also recommend the smoked fish dip if you're into that sort of thing. Gumbo is good. Really haven't had a bad meal there....

At this point will settle for decent pastrami

That’s what I thought. I found it chunky and very dry. Cole slaw on the sandwich might have helped. While it was ok, I wouldn’t order it again. $17 for a pastrami sandwich is a little steep, especially when it wasn’t remarkable.

Maybe they're trying to steer you to the fried gator?

That is steep for what I would expect here. Guess will stick with their fish.

I grew up in Palmora Park which is the neighborhood ski beach is in. I used to walk over those bridges to get to swim practice. Fun Fact…Ski Beach was the name of that area across the lake from the restaurant. It used to be a loop and “the thing to do” was drive through ski beach and go out with friends in boats. That tiny island called Monkey Island. It was always busy with water skiers and boaters. We’d tie up a bunch of tubes and hang out getting dragged behind the boat. The world famous water skiers lived here in Leesburg and had a training school on Lake Harris. That lake was filled with skiers and boaters but now it’s only a few fisherman. Sadly…. Sammy Duvall lived in the apartments on the corner of 9th street and 27. The building is still there. Having said all that, the fried green tomato’s are pretty good.

Great place. We been going there for months. Always happy there. Bugers are awesome. Gumbo, wings, fish dip. Never a complaint. We try something new every time. So, Pastrami was different and not what I expected. Still was decent.

The view makes it even that much better

Only place to get a decent pastrami sandwich is the The Pastrami Project, 825 N Magnolia Ave, Orlando, FL 32803 Phone: (321) 804-2686 pastramiproject, com The pastrami is home made by a guy who sells it from his small food truck. Pastrami is all he does. Its worth the drive. His regulars know to check his availability on the website before making the drive to Orlando because he's a one-man show. Also, if you want to order in bulk (get an extra pound or two to take home), you have to let him know in advance. You can thank me later or just bring back an extra sandwich for me.

If you are in NYC stop by Katz's Del. The price today is $27.45.
