"Bugs" going around

Just wondering if there's a stomach virus going around. I messaged my PCP but they're out of the office all this week. I've not felt well (no details to give) since yesterday. Can't keep anything down!! I did hear back from some nurse and her question was..."have you been tested for "the plague"? It's NOT respiratory and I've had it and it's nothing like that. Just a simple question is all I have..... I know there's a nasty "cold" going around, but haven't had that!

There was another thread going round yesterday or the day before on the same subject.
It would appear there is some sort of stomach bug floating around.

This is the thread.

Other Things

I respect anyone trying to avoid contact spreading germs. Keep in mind, the stomach bug is pneumatic and spreads by air in most cases. That said, there is a bug going around, but bad garlic, chicken or seafood can do the same thing. My thought is many will get sick just from any mayo or egg products over the 4th. It is a common problem when exposed to warmer air for an unreasonable amount of time?

This is a community of over 100,000 people. There are always multiple respiratory and intestinal illnesses "going around" It really is a useless question as it says nothing about what you have.

Most respiratory illnesses are spread thru the air, see Covid. Most digestive illnesses are spread hand to mouth, ok really anus to mouth, or foodborne.

If you can't keep "anything down" stop trying for 4 hours then start with a tablespoon of gatorade or similar every 15 minutes. This assumes you are not significantly febrile, are not dehydrated (how much weight down from normal and how much less urine output), not vomiting blood. You did not mention any diarrhea.
Did you have a head injury? Did you recently travel? Are you in pain? Do you have a history of any chronic illnesses, previous GI surgeries, hepatitis, pancreatitis, hypertension, recent medication changes, etc etc etc.

So whether there is a bug going around means nothing.

And lastly, vomiting is one of the early symptoms of plague.

I'm mostly home as a shut-in. THAT said, thanks for the link as well as the responses. I haven't eaten out in weeks. I did find out though I have a bacterial infection (message from my PCP) so I'm getting an antibiotic.

Covid like flu NEVER get rid of it. Covid was created in lab, no natural way to kill it.

My wife and I picked up covid on a trip twelve days ago flying to Chicago. So, watching K dramas until we finally test negative and can then leave the house.

I'm starting to miss my mask. 😷😷😷
While I'm at it, I'll pick up some Pepto Bismol.

Get well soon everyone.

The plague????? Did she mean Yersinia pestis----the etiologic agent of the black death that spread across Europe in the 14th century? We do get a few cases in the American southwest desert every year. Or was it some "cutesie" reference to COVID from what was supposed to be a professional nurse?

One question----how did your physician know it was a "bacterial" infection????

Great response to a somewhat "interesting" thread. I will mention however that in Central NY every August some form of viral gastroenteritis seemed to be "going around"
