USGA comments on high cup liners in hole
The discussion about a cup liner set too high in the hole intrigued me so I thought it best to go to the source. There are few if no circumstances found on the golf course that the rules of golf don't cover. The bigger problem is that most golfers are unfamiliar with the rules. They only learn them when they break a rule and are called on it. That memory stays forever.
There is no requirement for a hole to have a cup liner, so removing the liner and holing the putt breaks no rule. A cup liner is considered a movable obstruction and may be removed or placed into its proper position. So, fore warned is fore armed.............When you run into an Angus cup, it becomes your fault for not knowing the rules. Angus is just the ill trained and underpaid cup cutter and tee marker setter who can frustrate us all............:crap2: |
