Universal Generic Golf Cart Gas Caps ?
 

I lost my golf cart gas cap, left it at Wawa's : ( I called Wawa's a few days later, when I realized I left it there. They did not find it in their "lost and found." I am wondering if anyone knows if there are any inexpensive generic type gas caps?-- I have a older Yamaha -- not sure what year it is, I think it is a 1996. Online the gas caps all seem to be year and model specific and cost about $30, which seems really expensive for a gas cap and I have no idea if it would even fit my cart ...

The typical golf cart gas cap is also a fuel gauge which explains the cost, carts with electric fuel gauges MAY have just a cap. You can call some of the outside the bubble golf cart stores in Ocala and Webster and see if they have a plain gas cap (I am assuming your cart has an electric fuel gauge), otherwise I suggest you just bite the bullet and buy the $30 unit so you know your fuel level.

What bad advice.

I'd stick with one that has a fuel gauge in it.

I would buy the correct ORM cap for your cart. Believe it or not, issues can crop up like vapor lock or leakage. Get the cap made for the cart

I agree with this advice.

I know The Villages Cart stores used to and probably still do carry those non-gauge caps. I recall not many years ago they sold for $10

I would not pay extra for the gauge-type cap. I have had two of these stop working in my cart. My theory at this point is the float has absorbed something out of the gas (moisture perhaps) and is no longer buoyant. This cap, like the one that preceded it, tells me the tank is empty no matter how much fuel it actually contains.

I no longer have a way to measure the fuel in my tank. But, I know I can get 250ish miles from a full tank and I know it is highly unlikely that I will drive 200 miles in a single week. I fill the tank on a regular interval whether it needs it or not so I know I will never run out.

You asked the same question on a Facebook group and received a lot of responses to this question. You wanted to challenge those answers because you don't want to spend a measly thirty dollars. So obviously, do whatever you want, because you are not looking for the correct answer. You are looking for one that fits a decision that you already made....

I purchased one for a 2010 Yamaha on Amazon $19.99.

I have an extra noon gauge Yamaha gas cap. You can have it. I restore golf carts and usually put in the Guage caps as part of the process. I will be home (Newell), Thursday 7/25. Message me if you still need it by then.
