Suspect this goes on at most prisons. 60 minutes had an interesting story on prisons a year or so ago.

Generally fairly easy to get manipulated by prisoners. Keep in mind, these people are master manipulators - having been doing so since they were 13 and stealing money from grandma's purse. I highly recommend reading "Games Criminals Play" so you can learn what they do, how they do it, and how to avoid getting caught up in it. They are in for a long time, they play a very long game, sometimes taking years to get you slowly into a position where you can't say no.
