The crooks and criminals have the law on their side. I'm sure they are watching tv, eating their food and helping plot more attacks. The world is upside down.

Just imagine the legal costs. And WE pay for BOTH sides!!! The bureaucracy of our government is maddening. Yet another example is the "ongoing investigation" of the July 13th incident in PA. Stonewalling.
We have the best system in the world, but..... grrrrrr. |

I don't disagree with the comments on this thread. But, I would just point out that, as I understand it, these men have never been convicted of a crime. How would you get a jury to decide on a death penalty after 23 years? They should have been formally prosecuted many years ago.

This guy admitted to his involvement in the attack. He was also involved in other terrorist attacks which he has also admitted his role.
This guy should have been prosecuted years ago but various administrations could not agree under which venue to try him - federal court or a military tribunal. It makes no difference to me how they get it done, but the end result is government bureaucracy at its best. I should also mention that government lawyers have never had a good track record at prosecuting cases, so it seems that they always tend to gravitate toward seeking a plea bargain. Unfortunately, I believe that we haven’t seen the last of this guy. He may very well be identified as a candidate for a future prisoner swap. That’s another area, IMO, that we always tend to give away more than we get back. |
Regarding prisoner swaps: I remember when Israel would trade 1000 enemy POWs for one Israeli soldier and then brag about how one of theirs was worth 1000 of the other guys. All in how you spin it.
