How are worms getting in?
We live in a 2 yr. old patio villa. After huge rains we are finding worms ( around 5-10 ) in different rooms of our house.
It is not a big deal but we can not figure out how they get in? Anyone have any ideas? |
Have you checked all of your drains to see if there is water in the P-traps?

They’re probably escaping saturated soil and finding a way in. So these are earth worms vs millipedes or anything with legs…right? Millipedes might travel farther once inside….
More than likely, they are entering the home thru small holes in walls, windows, doors. Finding where is your challenge. I’d start by finding out if it’s one area/room that they’re getting in by or numerous rooms. Once you’ve narrowed down the room, check for the holes. And yes, they can climb up walls. Sounds like you have a challenge ahead of you. |
They are looking for a dry spot and all will die quickly.

When we first moved here I woke up one morning after a rain and saw about five or six things about 1" - 1.5" long, black on top, on the floor in our lanai. I thought they were leaves off some of the plants we have out there (wind with the rain) and didn't think anything of it. However the cat was staring intently at them so I paid a bit more attention. They were slugs. The cat could see them move but I couldn't unless I looked at them with more than just a casual glance. Anyway, not ever having such a problem in Minnesota and not having the vaguest idea what to do, I called a pest-control company. Florida Pest Control. Ended up buying several services from them; pest control, lawn weeding and fertilizing, etc.). No more slugs. In fact almost no critters of any kind except for two dead cockroaches in the garage. Anyway...I'd call a pest control company. Far better than guessing or applying "fixes" that may or (more likely) may not work. |
