National Police Women Day.

Seeing a lot of Police Women from various jurisdictions on my Facebook page.

These are usually police departments honoring their female employees.

Thanks for your service.

About a year ago, I was passing some slow idiot in the left hand lane, about 10 mph over the limit to get around him. A female officer pulled me over. I immediately put my license and insurance info on the dash, and said "You got me dead to rights". She looked, went back to her car and confirmed I had no priors. She handed everything back and said "drive careful"

My favorite person that day.

An honor well bestowed

Women have been on patrol in most jurisdictions since 1973. They do an excellent job and many have excelled to become Chief's. Thank you all for your service.

I have worked with hundreds of women police officers. This is just more identity politics. Are we celebrating that members of one-half the population are taking on a career that is usually dominated by the other one-half of the population? When is the National Day for male nurses? Or male teachers? How about multi-denominational, transverse binary alt-genders?

Thank you to all the women police officers, and all police officers. They put themselves in harm's way to protect citizens every day. There is a shortage of law enforcement officers in this country. We need to lift this profession up and hopefully more qualified people will choose to pursue law enforcement as a career. There are many places in the country in which a lot of LEO's are eligible to retire in the next few years and there are not enough new officers to replace them.

In my youth, I was in love with the original Police Woman - Angie Dickinson:angel:

Tell her, huge thanks for her service from all ( or at least, most) of us. 🥰

Not jealous at all. As a 30 year street cop in a major inner-city metropolis that has tens of thousands of police officers, I have known HUNDREDS of police women. Still not sure why they have a special day of recognition.

P.S. - Federal Agents? Not cops. Do they respond to radio calls for service? Do they work weekends? Graveyards? Work on Christmas? Easter? Thanksgiving? I don't mean 1x or 2x a career, I mean as a regular year-in and year-out thing? Not cops. I've worked with plenty of Federal agents, and I'll tell you they are excellent at scr@wing stuff up. I'm sure your wife is the exception or else you wouldn't rally so hard on her behalf. The rest? Not cops.

My golf partner is a retired postal inspector. Despite his protestations to the contrary, he was not a cop.

Edit to add: Secret Service. Who also have to be away from home for unpredictable durations, unpredictable forced overtime, uses own body to protect people from gunshots, not allowed to make any mistakes, work every day of the year, cannot blame anyone else when things go bad.

Border patrol would disagree with that.
Air Marshalls would also disagree with that.
FBI would disagree with that.
Correction officers would disagree with that.
and so on.
