Diabetes Classes

My husband has type 2 diabetes & we are wondering if there are any classes available in The Villages to help us learn more about it. I know back in Ohio the hospitals usually held classes to educate people on diabetes.
Thank You

I can't help with hospital classes, but the club listing shows there is a diabetic support club. The weekly Recreation News lists it there along with contact information for the group leader. The latest club listing indicates it meets the first Thursday of the month at 1 PM at the Savannah Rec Center.

Type 2 diabetes is 100% curable just by changing your diet. Eliminate all sugar and carbohydrates and your A1C will drop quickly back to normal. No medication needed. I know from personal experience. Check out some YouTube video from Dr Ken Berry and many others.

I find a lot of info on the Reddit (.com ), r/diabetes, Forum. Diabetes is a learning process. Good luck.

As we age, we are more prone to move closer to diabetes. It’s important to be focused on a healthy lifestyle and nutrition diet. I’m surprised that classes are not offered in nutrition (and advertised) more often given we live in the type of community such as The Villages.

The Villages Health has a diabetes educator and they have classes as well. You don't have to be a patient of theirs to take them. I spoke to her and she can run insurance but you may have to pay cash.

We have AARP United health Medicare supplemental coverage, and they have 24/7/365 nurses available, and I AM GUESSING from the emails I get they probably have a class on type 2 diabetes, my point, check with YOUR insurance carrier as they may offer this type class, it maybe online. Also, I would do an online search for classes, and also talk to my primary care doctor for info on possible local in person classes.
