Seeking senior-with-physical limitations-savvy personal trainer

Hello!

My mother is a snowbird and will be returning to the Villages in a few weeks. While up north, she had a full hip replacement surgery performed. She will need someone who can come to the house and assist her in re-building her core and ancillary muscles in support of her new hip. This will not necessitate any gym equipment other than possibly (and only eventually) very light (1-2#) weights and/or resistance bands. She has a set of exercises given to her by her surgeon, but she needs someone to be there to monitor her execution and ensure she doesn't over-do it. I was helping her myself for the first 3 weeks post-surgery and then I had to leave. I thought she would be fine, as she was focused on executing the exercises and self-motivating, but she either was performing them incorrectly, or was pushing herself too hard and ended up in pretty bad pain. Her surgeon advised her to rest and take it easier with the exercises.

I am NOT looking for a gym referral.

I am looking for someone certified in personal training, who has experience with seniors, is not a boot-camp 'drill seargent' (aka needs to be compassionate and gentle) and who will go to her house in Hemmingway Village and be her educated trainer and accoutabili-buddy.

I am grateful for any and all non-gym/facility recommendations.

Thank you so much!

There are several home care REHABILITAION firms, which I believe is what you want. Both me and my wife have had to use these services, and in both cases, the doctor made arrangements for the rehab. Now in your case, you may need to do a search on rehab services, make some calls to see who comes to the house and see if they require a doctor referral and finally how Medicare coverage is handled. I will need to see if I still have any records of who came to our house as this was around 2 years ago for me and several months ago for my wife.

Self-pay or insurance?

My plan was to self-pay for her, to keep it simple. I find that it's often inefficient and difficult to get Medicare to pay for anything like this, although I'm not opposed to doing some research about it. I just want her to have the help!
