Best Pretzel In Or Near The Villages

Hey Pretzel Lovers β€”-

I finally made the trip today for the first time to Yalaha German Bakery. For those south of 44, it’s just a short drive east of the bubble. I ordered the house-baked German pretzel. The thing was huge, enough to be shared by 2-3 people. Freshly baked! (Not like some of the previously frozen Sysco varieties found at other places). I also ordered their schnitzel (I ordered hunter style), which came with homemade spaetzle and red cabbage. Very good! Also picked up a few pastry items to go from their vast selection. Pleasant outdoor sitting area (Old Florida feel), with live music on weekend afternoons. They open early for breakfast, and I will definitely be returning.

Yalaha bakery is decent. A little pricey, we bought a loaf of bread there and it was a little too dense for our liking.

I was in WOB in Brownwood a few times when I've seen them serving fresh pretzels there. People seemed to be very happy about them.

Loved that place for years, many MANY years. Then maybe 5 (?) years back, it seemed to go "down hill" in my opinion. Not sure, but think it changed hands, perhaps more than once. Finally gave up on my twice a month "stock up". Time to go back a try again. spaetzle and red cabbage, with hunter style schnitzel (rarely do you find real veal in this area, so hunter style pork schnitzel is fine. Wonder if they still have entertainment every Sat. morning ?

Forget the other items. It's a pretzel. A flippin' pretzel! A "doughknot"! Heavy bread!
Like a burger bun without the burger or fixings. Without the fixings it's just bread. πŸ™„ sheesh!

Thanks for posting. I thought it was only a bakery. We'll have to try it.

Several years ago, we went with some friends to WOB in Brownwood. Ralph ordered the pretzel. When it arrived hanging on a hook, I commented that it was one well hung pretzel. For some reason, the young waitress rolled her eyes as she walked away.

Probably because she hears that same line from every Villager who thinks they're being funny.

We stopped going there after a few times of being served pastries that were Less than fresh.

She should have rolled her eyes all the way to the manager and had him/her wait on the table to explain the inappropriateness of making a comment with sexual innuendo to an employee.
