Where to find FL TPKE closings/lane restrictions

We drive to MCO pretty regularly. Many times late on Sundays - even after midnight if the plane is delayed. I feel like I am playing Russian roulette with the FL tpke. I have tried the fl dot website but I cant figure out how to get current info. Where do I find highway closures?

My big fear is that my husband is heading to Orlando to pick me up and finds the turnpike closed. He wont know detours and is a basic nav system user.

Waze should be your go to choice as far as navigation goes, as it will lead you on the best route.

If you want to just check traffic for yourself, you can look at (14) Active Events - TPK Traffic

I use WAZE for traffic info. Driving to and from Boynton Beach every couple of months, it's a must-have. I've been re-routed a few times in the past year because of tie-ups on the highway; it's saved me several hours total just since last December.

I think the OP wants to know in advance of road closures not when they're in the car already.

Then they'll only know about the ones that are planned in advance, that are being worked on "on schedule." If a job has to halt for bad weather, the road might be open. If there's an accident and the road has to close, it'll be closed and not on that advance schedule.

You can check for scheduled closings, but it will only tell you a piece of the picture. If you want to know what's up ahead, you'll need a live GPS system to show you all "active" closures, delays, and other traffic situations, including alternate routes to help you get off the highway before you're stuck in a 2-hour traffic jam.

Answers about using Waze won't help if he's not a big nav user, so look here BEFORE he drives to MCO airport.
