Teen or College aged Grandson in town? I need help with storm debris cleanup.
 

New homeowner just south of Spanish Springs needs cheap labor to help rake up leaves and small branches around my yard, and sweep out the garage, bagging the materials afterwards. There are no large limbs or branches, just dried bits and pieces everywhere.

The person need not be experienced, only needs common sense, ability to follow directions and work fairly quickly.

I am only in town a few days, and have no tools here except a broom and dust pan. Will pay cash. Prefer an ordinary young person needing extra cash, not a contractor.

This is my first post on here so I hope I can figure out how to see replies!

Unfortunately for you this isn't the time of year when school kids are visiting their grandparents; they're in school right now.

Your best bet is to reach out to the Villages High School office and see if they can get you in touch with some enterprising kid who has his own transportation.

Thanks, maybe someone's got family nearby... Doesn't have to be during the work day hours, maybe on the weekend or after school's out.

Agree with reaching out to the high school for student assistance. Just ignore those...that will post about lawsuits, injuries, Workman Comp insurance, lawyers etc. This is a perfectly suited activity for a teenager and as stated, start at the HS

That's decent reimbursement for the type of work you described, I hope you get a taker for the deal.

Any other time, I'd just grab my rake and big plastic grabby hands and do it myself, but... no rake, no plastic hands, and a herniated disc in my back!

I estimate less than 40 minutes of work, maybe an hour if the bagging becomes tricky. Where I'm from we don't bag stuff like this so I don't know.

I looks up all tools you need at Walmart. Rake 20 bucks, large trash can 20 bucks, trash bags 12 bucks, work gloves 8 bucks. 70 bucks plus tax. Added benefit, you get keep tools. IMO really not worth for somebody to drive over there for you estimated 40 mins. Work based on hourly wage. Most jobs around here are contracted. When means they added in the cost of transportation, tools, and time.

She has a herniated disc. But it’s a good point. A teenager isn’t gonna arrive with said tools unless instructed.

If you’re not having luck with the charter school, maybe reach out to a local church. Make it known that you’re looking for a school aged worker...

I must of over looked back problem :shrug:. I bet be hard to find some using there tools and estimate of less than hour work for less than 20 bucks. IMO 20 bucks don’t go that far nowadays. I had to edit, I forgot cost of trash bags.

If I was up there and didn't have a skin graft sewn to my nose and still healing I'd offer to do it for $20, and I'd bring my own tools. Unfortunately I'm 4 hours away right now and won't be back til next week. And the whole "open wound on the face" thing makes me a bit nervous about stirring up dust and debris.

Yep. They don't do that anymore. I've just moved here from Minneapolis suburb asking the same. No response.
