Milton Storm Damage

I will be the first, @ 9:50pm, the oak tree behind our house, came down. Took out the fence, our birdcage, across our pool, and is currently sitting on our lanai roof. Unsure of damage because it’s not safe until the wind dies down. Claim filed, they are already extremely busy.

1AM Thursday It sounds like most of the shingles have left my roof. I can see many on the ground around my house. I hope the Villages insurance is open this Thursday.

1 :30 AM Also filed claim directly with the insurance company to be ahead of thousands of people who will file at dawn.

Probably not, I called the 800 number. Their phones will be swamped by light of dawn. Claims should be 24/7 soon because of named storm

When walking the dog this morning I found some shingles in the road, it was still dark, so I don't know yet whose house they came from.

Solar Tube Cap

My husband and I moved to The Villages about 5 months ago. The solar tube cap blew off and the solar tube in our kitchen filled with water and damaged our kitchen ceiling. Never had solar tubes before...Who do I call to fix it don't have a clue thanks

Don't forget damage is covered under the hurricane portion of your policy. Deductibles based on percentage of insured value. Some are very high. Mine is 2% about $8,000. Check your policy.

For the solar tube call The Solar Guys: The Villages & Central FL - Solatube(R) Skylight Experts They may have someone to repair the ceiling as well.

Blew off screen on birdcage

Several other homes in Lake Deaton also lost part of their roofs. So, it wasn't just my roof.

hope that roof isn't older, reason I state that is a lot of homes still under warranty are in the same situation - one major issue - these roofs were to be installed and within code. The Villages never got wind gusts over 135 mph ergo the roofs were NOT installed to code. Some don't even have a layer under the shingles.....

don't count on TV to own up to it or back it either.
