Netbook question
 

I've had my Acer Netbook now for about a year. Took alot to get used to due to the smaller type-pad, screen etc. I like it for the size--easy to take while traveling etc.

Question(s) bear with me as I'm not at all technical savvy with the right terms but here goes...while typing sometimes all of a sudden the screen will go to the "sign-on" screen with the icons and I will have lost what I was doing OR I'll be typing an e-mail and all of a sudden it get's deleted. It's fine when I'm doing regular e-mail as then my message will be over in Drafts. But when I'm typing in Facebook it gets lost completely. Generally I really haven't thought I'd clicked on the wrong key. Anyone out there have a netbook and have the same things happen?? I feel that the netbook is extremely sensitive to "touch". I've never had this happen with a normal sized laptop or computer.

When you are typing, the pad at the base of your thumb may contact the touchpad/buttons under the keyboard just enough to send you off the page. With a standard notebook/laptop, there may be enough room to avoid this, although I manage to move my cursor inadvertently even then.

I've had my ACER netbook for a couple of years and have had to send it back to the factory for various problems (screen going black and keys not working). In both cases, they fixed it free in a short time, which was great. Fortunately, it was in the warranty when I had these problems. However, I do not think that I will buy another ACER due to my minor ACER problems.

In the future, I plan to buy a HP netbook to replace my ACER netbook.

PS. I have had a HP laptop for at least 5 years and have never had a problem.

I have a cordless mouse...which sometimes moves to a different spot in the middle of typing and I have to re-place the cursor to the correct line. I agree that I'd not buy another Acer. Next time I'd get either a laptop or a larger netbook (which I've seen in stores).

We purchsed this one after seeing our son's and daughter in law's. Our DIL has said hers does the same thing as mine does so thanks for the in-put here.

Plug in a USB (very very tiny connector) mouse and turn off the touch-pad.

If you are "losing your email because the window tab you are working in is closing accidentally, you are probably closing it with a key combination as you are typing without knowing that you are doing it.
If you go to the top of the browser like Internet explorer, and click on file, and look down the list of actions, one is close tab.
For example holding control and pressing W closes the tab you are working on.
If you are thinking you are holding the Shift button to capitalize a W, you may have your finger partially on the button below which is control and the tab window will close.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 and cannot scroll up or down using the touch pad. Any suggestions on how to fix.

How would I turn off the touch pad??? As I said...am technically challenged! Kids say I know just enough to be dangerous on the computer.

My netbook uses Windows 7, so yours may be a little different.:024:
START > CONTROL PANEL > HARDWARE & SOUND > MOUSE (shows under Devices)
Click on the MOUSE and in the drop-down menu and it will show your TouchPad (mine says Synaptics TouchPad), under the DEVICE SETTINGS tab, there should be a DISABLE option.
